Soplica Vodka
700ml 40%Abv.
Soplica Vodka is the brainchild of Bolesław Kasprowicz, who, in 1888, established the Manufacturing Plant of Vodkas and Liquors in Gniezno, the ancient capital of Poland. The first bottle of Soplica was produced in 1891, as proven by a replica of that bottle that exists to this day, and can be found in the Museum of the Origins of the Polish State in Gniezno. Soplica gets its name from a heroic Polish folklore character of the same name.
Soplica still uses the original recipe of Kasprowicz, which combines a perfect balance of golden grains from Western Poland where soils are rich in minerals and the warmer climate allows the grain to fully ripen before harvest to provide an unmistakeable richness.
Rye is the grain traditionally used for vodka in Poland and Soplica's unique appeal comes from blending this with wheat to create a pleasing softness and mildness. Its precise and sophisticated four stage production process includes 4-column distillation and filtration, through active carbon to create its distinctively smooth and pure taste and its gentle aroma. Today, Soplica is produced in the award winning, state-of-the-art distillery in Oborniki, a site with its own rectification unit and which uses locally produced grain.
Soplica has been awarded the ‘Superior Taste Award for 2006’ by the International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) in Brussels, Belgium, an award chosen by an international jury comprised of the top European Chefs and Sommeliers. It won the silver medal in the Monde selection in the same year and numerous other awards at the Vodka Masters competition and the “International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2009 and 2010.
The taste characteristics of Soplica are:
Nice nose, delicate aroma with a well balanced mouth.
It has a soft velvety texture with a subtle sweetness and a mellow aftertaste with a hint of citrus.
