BrewDog is simply the most exciting brewery to emerge in these islands in many years.

BrewDog brewery was founded by Martin Dickie and James Watt. It is located in the Scottish town of Fraserburgh on the coastline north of Aberdeen. Martin and James were bored of the industrially brewed lagers and stuffy ales that dominated the UK market. They decided the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to brew their own beers. Consequently in April 2007 BrewDog was born.

Both were only 24 at the time, but they leased a building, got a scary bank loan, spent all their money on stainless steel and started making some hardcore beers. They are dedicated to making cool, contemporary and progressive beers showcasing some of the world’s classic beer styles. All with an innovative and customary BrewDog bite.

We now hand you over to the BrewDog team to describe what they aim to do.

“BrewDog is all about making the best beer that we can. We want to completely redefine the craft beer genre in the UK. We want to introduce as many people to the amazing world of craft beer as we can, to change people's perceptions and challenge their understanding of what beer is. We like to take age old classic beer styles and put our contemporary, imaginative spin on them.”

"We do this using the best malt, hops, herbs, spices, fruits and speciality sugars sourced from around the world combined with the freshest soft Scottish water. There is no place for preservatives, additives, flavour enhancers or pasteurisation here. Our artisan brewery produces small 5000 bottle batches and our investment in technologically advanced equipment allows us to keep precise control throughout and give us the flexibility to make any beer our minds can create. We have our own bottling line and everything is done on site, giving us complete control of the entire process.”

The BrewDog team now consists of 14 beer nuts from 6 countries. This provides us with an immense amount of ideas, knowledge and talent from all corners of the globe. BrewDog has been exciting imaginations since 2007 and is now Scotland’s largest independent brewery. BrewDog makes innovative, progressive and exciting full flavour beers. We add our contemporary spin on classic beers styles. All our beers are made from fresh natural ingredients; we use no preservative, additives or pasteurization. With the result that Punk IPA is the fastest growing alternative beer brand in the UK.

BrewDog is about breaking rules, taking risks, upsetting trends, unsettling institutions but first and foremost, great tasting beers.
