Here comes our Winter Beer Range

November 01, 2011 | Posted By Paul | Comments (0)
As the season moves from Autumn to Winter, we have a cracking new range of Winter beers, Christmas Beers, Limited Edition beers, Champion Homebrews and some amazing flavoured French Craft beers for you to try.
Many of the beers reflect the changing of the seasons and peoples desires for richer products as the cold winter weather sets in. There are also some innovative beers in the latest additions to our year round range. All are absolutely loaded with flavour. So let me give you a brief description of each beer.

The Limited Edition Beers

Holy Smoke Brewed by Nøgne Ø/Erlann Eldorsen. Smoked Lager. 6% abv.

Every year the Winner of the Norwegian Championship for Homebrewers is invited to brew their beer in Nøgne Ø Brewery. In 2011 Erlann Eldorsen won with this smoked lager. Erlann has made this beer in true Bamberg style. Smooth, assertive and well-balanced. Enjoy with nuts and aged cheeses. Recommended serving temperature 8°- 12°

India Saison - Brewed by Nøgne Ø . An IPA/Saison cross. 7.5%abv
A collaboration with Bridge Road Brewers. India Saison is a hoppy, crisp and refreshing result of a North- South collaboration. A dry beer with a full a full mouth feel from rich Australian hops with a tropical aroma profile. Bitterness is assertive but gentle. Bottle conditioned, this has a slight sediment. Enjoy with cheeses and charcuterie. Recommended serving temperature 8°- 12°

AB:07 – Brewed by BrewDog – Scotch Ale. 12.5% abv
AB:07 is the seventh beer to be produced in BrewDogs’ Abstrakt series of “concept” beers. It is an imperial Scotch Ale that has been aged in whiskey casks.

Winter and Christmas Beers

God Jul - Brewed by Nøgne Ø. 8.5 % abv.
A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel.
This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be. As it is unfiltered and unpasteurised, we recommend to pour cautiously to leave the natural sediments behind. Recommended serving temperature 12°C. Great with cheese or nuts.

Weihnachtsbier - Brewed by Der Hirschbrau. 5.2% abv
A lighter Christmas Beer brewed with lots of extra dark malt, ripened in deep cold-store cellars. Recommended serving temperature of this beer is 4° - 7°

New All Year Round Beers

Two Captains Double IPA – Brewed by Nøgne Ø. 8.5% abv
This Winner of the 2010, Norway Homebrewing Championship. Brewed again by popular demand and entered in the Australian International Beer Awards 2011, this beer took the Bronze Medal. This double IPA is truly American inspired. It is fairly dry, which allows the hops to dominate. There is bitterness up front, some balanced malts in the middle and complex fruity and resiny hop aromas which simply have no end. Recommended serving temperature 12°

Brasserie Bourganel Beers The Brasserie Bourganel was established by Christain Bourganel in 2000. Christain says that a long “fruit style beer” brewing tradition had disappeared in the South of France. So he decided to try to revive it. He now produces a range of speciality beers brewed with Chestnuts, Honey, Verbana and Nougat amongst other ingredients that reflect the flavours of the Ardeche region. These beers are stunningly flavourful and might change your mind about how beer should taste.

We now bring you 3 of Christains’ beers.
Bourganel Aux Marrons (Chestnuts). 5% abv
Brewed with chestnuts from Ardeche. A perfectly balanced fruity beer that plays on the flavours originality as much as its undeniable character . Recommended serving temperature 4° - 7°

Bourganel Au Nougat. 5% abv
Brewed with Nougat from Montélimar, this beer won the Trophy of Innovation 2006/2007.Recommended serving temperature 4° - 7°

Bourganel Au Miel de Châtaignier (Honey). 5% abv
Brewed with pure Chestnut Tree Honey from Ardeche. Gold medal winner for the worldwide Concurse of beer in Strasbourg 2009. Recommended serving temperature 4° - 7°

All are available from this week in independent off-licences. I hope you love them as much as we do in Fourcorners.

Slainte
Paul.
